What I’m Reading #7 – All DC Edition!

Batman 51

The end of an era! Issue 51 bookends Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s impressive run on the Dark Knight. Everything from the Court of Owls to Zero Year to Endgame has been amazing and it all wraps up on a high note. After the absolute craziness of the last few chapters, Bruce is back in the cowl and all is right in Gotham. Stories like this one, that aren’t about end of the world scenarios, are some of my personal favorite.

DC: Rebirth #1

Rebirth 1

This one completely caught me off guard. As a long time DC reader, this one hit me in the feels. I won’t spoil it but this issue has multiple HUGE reveals and one of the craziest twists in comics history. I was already on board but now I’m on the edge of my seat to see where this goes.

Wonder Woman #52 - Meredith Finch

This issue marks the end of Meredith Finch’s work on the title AND wraps up the storyline that Brian Azzarello began way back in issue one. Everything comes full circle in a heartbreaking climax. This book has consistently been one of my favorites – between revamping Diana’s origins to the unique interpretations of the Greek gods, every single issue is great and this one was no exception.

Justice League 50

The Darkseid War draws to a close and sets the stage for Rebirth! Everything’s been building to this since the genesis of the New 52 and it seriously delivers. If you haven’t read this series yet, be sure to get caught up on Forever Evil and the first few volumes of Geoff Johns and Jim Lee’s Justice League.

Green Lanterns Rebirth - Baz and Cruz

Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver once again team-up on the GL saga! This time though, Hal Jordan is out of the picture – this story instead focuses on the two newest rookie Lanterns from Earth: Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz! Both are very interesting characters in their own right but with two very different backgrounds. Forced to overcome their differences and work together to protect their sector from an impending invasion from the Red Lanterns!
