Hey guys and gals, I just wanted to report in on Free Comic Book Day this year and thank you all for coming out! We had a fantastic turn-out, based on transaction numbers and the number of free comic books we handed out, we think we had about 1000 people in the store that day.
We had a great mix of folks as well. We had parents/grandparents and their kids, first time comic shoppers, veteran collectors, cosplayers, Walking Dead fans, Whovians, Trekkies, Warsies, you name it, they were here. Adding to the wonderful atmosphere that was FCBD 2013 at Superhero Beach.
I’ve had a bunch of people ask how the store did that day, and suffice to say the answer is simply “Awesome!” Our $1 back issue sale was a success, our 50% off variant covers sale was a success, and just bringing that number of new folks into the store at all was a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase what most of you knew already, that we do our best every day to make this store rock.
We are a little sad that the food didn’t materialize the way we expected it to. But mother nature had something else in store for us. And while our Super-Counter-Girl, Ashley had a great day in Hawaii we had to suffer the Monsoon in Jacksonville Beach… but you know what, I was proud of everyone who came out in the rain and made the FCBD 2013 a huge success.
But what about next year? We are already talking about what changes we want to make, and how to approach and advertise for Free Comic Book Day 2014. So if you have any ideas or suggestions, let me know. I’m already in talks with a fantastic food vendor (I’ll give you a hint, they’re one block south of Superhero Beach on the same side of the road), so hopefully that materializes. I’ve got my sights set on new ways of getting people in the store, more promotional opportunities and fantastic new sales for next year are already brewing. So, if you missed FCBD 2013 (and I’m sorry if you did) then mark your calendars now for FCBD 2014 so you can be part of next years super-extravaganza!
